NIDDK Position

NIDDK is looking to fill an open extramural position for a behavioral and social scientist as a Health Scientist Administrator, GS-12/13/14/15. The announcement will open on January 22nd, and close on January 31st.  See attached for further details.

The position would involve developing and managing a portfolio of behavioral and social science research relevant to prevention and management of diabetes and obesity. We are seeking a rigorous clinically-oriented behavioral and social scientist. While previous experience in diabetes or obesity research is desirable, it is not required. Our division includes about 30 MDs and PhDs with very broad expertise in diabetes and obesity, ranging from basic to clinical, who could help a strong behavioral and social scientist gain expertise in diabetes and obesity even if that has not been his/her previous area of research. Also not required is previous experience in extramural scientific administration. This position was formerly held by Dr. Christine Hunter https://obssr.od.nih.gov/about-us/obssr-staff/christine-hunter/ who left NIDDK to assume a position as Deputy Director of OBSSR.

If you are interested in this position or know of a clinically-oriented behavioral and social scientist at NIH, or through your broader scientific contacts, who might be interested in an extramural position as a Health Scientist Administrator, please have him or her contact Dr. Judith Fradkin, Director, Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Diseases, NIDDK. Any such contact would be completely confidential.
